About the Artist

L. Susan Adams
Painting Costa Rica one wave and whisker at a time
Susan Adams moved to Costa Rica over twenty years ago and began her love affair with the country she adopted. From the deep, misty jungles to the rustic villages of Guanacaste Province she has found a rich source of inspiration for her oil paintings. Combine that with travels to Europe, her canvasses portray a world where animals wander about city scenes and walk through shop windows.
With a degree in Commercial Art, Adams has worked in advertising design, as an illustrator for a children's book author who wrote about blue tigers, and taught high school art and science. But an unexpected invitation to a private showing of the 1995 Monet exhibit at the Chicago Art Institute permanently changed her life. So inspired, she resigned her position, packed her bags, and moved to Costa Rica's Northern Pacific Coastal town of Playa Tamarindo. Living with her musician husband and Shar-Pei Lily, it is her desire that you want to walk into her paintings, feel the action taking place, or simply enjoy the moment in nature.
Adams collectors are around the world in Tokyo, Berlin, England, Scotland, Germany, Spain, Australia, United States, Canada, and Costa Rica.
She graduated from Southwest Texas State, San Marcos, Texas and has studied with Simon Michael, Rockport, Texas and Daniel E. Green, New York.
